In this role you will, operate and maintain the wave solder line, perform targeted solder rework using a Wenesco fountain solder machine, and apply/conformally coat PCBs and assemblies per work instructions and quality standards. This role is hands-on on the production floor, supporting daily builds, quick-turn rework, and final finishing to meet schedule, quality, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Wave Solder

  • Set up, run, and adjust wave solder equipment (pot temperature, conveyor speed, preheat, flux application).
  • Use pallets/fixtures; verify flux density and topside preheat; perform thermal profiling as required.
  • Maintain solder pot (dross removal, alloy checks, documentation) and line cleanliness.
  • Inspect solder joints to IPC criteria; perform touch-up as needed.

Wenesco Fountain Solder Rework

  • Set up Wenesco fountain nozzles, shields, and fixtures for site-specific rework.
  • Execute controlled reflow of through-hole pins, selective desolder/resolder, and jumper/lead replacements.
  • Protect heat-sensitive parts; use thermal profiles and masking to prevent collateral wetting.
  • Verify results under microscope; document rework per traveler/NCR/rework instructions.

Conformal Coating

  • Mask/demask components, connectors, and keep-outs; verify masking accuracy.
  • Mix, measure, and apply coatings (spray, selective/robotic, or dip) to spec and maintain viscosity logs.
  • Cure parts per process (oven/IR/UV); inspect under UV light; measure coating thickness where required.
  • Perform controlled stripping/rework of coating when needed and re-apply per procedure.

Quality, Documentation & Safety

  • Read/interpret travelers, drawings, BOMs, and work instructions; complete all records accurately.
  • Inspect to IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards; escalate defects and support root-cause actions.
  • Follow ESD/FOD controls, PPE, chemical handling, and ventilation best practices.
  • Keep work areas organized; support 6S and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ year in PCB assembly, soldering, or coatings (wave, selective, or conformal coating exposure preferred).
  • Solid hand-soldering and rework skills; able to work under microscope.
  • Able to read basic drawings/work instructions and use measurement/inspection tools.
  • Comfortable working with solvents and chemicals (IPA, conformal coatings) and around heated equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail; dependable, team-oriented, and schedule-focused.
  • Physical: stand for extended periods; lift up to 25-30 lbs (solder bars/fixtures)
  • This role involves access to controlled technology and materials; applicants must be a U.S. Person under U.S. export laws (or eligible for government export license)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • IPC certifications: J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and/or IPC-7711/7721 (rework).
  • Experience with Wenesco fountain solder machines or other selective/wave systems.
  • Conformal coating experience with acrylic/urethane/silicone; knowledge of IPC-CC-830.
  • Familiarity with aerospace/defense requirements and traceability.

Hourly Range: Assembler II: $19.54 - $29.31; (Lansdale, PA). Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
