The department of Student & Community Relations at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Bowling Alley Mechanic. About the Opportunity: The Bowling Alley Mechanic will repair and maintain 16 Brunswick A-2 pinsetters, 10 Brunswick Gold Crown Billiard Tables, and 2 Ping Pong Tables. What you'll do:
- Performs inspection and operational testing of 208 volt Brunswick pinsetting equipment. Performs adjustment, repair, and maintenance on all Brunswick bowling, billiard, and related equipment to the area. Maintains and repairs 16 Brunswick synthetic bowling lanes as well as maintenance, repairs, and annual recovery of 10 Brunswick billiard tables. Maintains stock and inventory of Brunswick parts and supplies for all equipment. Maintenance includes the cleaning, oiling, and adjusting of 16 Brunswick A-2 pinsetters. In addition, must maintain, adjust, and operate lane oiler and stripper. Must also troubleshoot and repair Qubica automatic scoring system for all lanes. Performs maintenance, inspection, and operational testing of 16 Brunswick A-2 pinsetters with electrical components of 208 volts down to 110 volts AC current and 90 volts to 24 volts and 24 volts DC current. Ability to weld metal framework and parts on pinsetters and other equipment.
- Maintains bowling lanes in proper condition by operating a lane oiler and stripper on a daily basis.
- Maintains inventory of Brunswick parts and supplies. Inform supervisor when inventory is low. Maintains appropriate records.
- Inspects equipment for damages, re-tips billiard cues, recovers billiard tables, polishes bowling ball surfaces, plugs and re-drills bowling balls.
- Trains employees regarding health and safety codes relating to a bowling center. Inspects for compliance all safety and fire regulations and implement strategies to correct any violations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Pay Grade: 14 Hours: Tuesday-Thursday 2:00p-10:00p, Friday & Saturday 6:00p-2:00a
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Must have one of the following:
- 2 years of electrical or Mechanical experience.
- Completion of an associate degree as an electrical technician/ or Mechanical Technician.
- Completion of a 2-year accredited vocational electrical/ mechanical program.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Specific expertise with mechanics, electrical, and welding, as they relate to bowling center equipment. Ability to weld metal framework on pinsetters and other equipment.
- Knowledge of operating an automatic scoring system.
- Ability to train and oversee the work of employees and resolve daily operational problems.
- Competence in oral and written communication skills.
Physical Abilities:
- Walking, bending, crawling, stooping, maneuvering machine parts in awkward positions for extended period of time.
- Lifting maneuvering objects of up to 125 lbs. (electric motors and assorted machine parts).
