Overview LMI is seeking a skilled Scholar Coordinator to support the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program. A successful Scholar Coordinator has strong administrative, communication, and organizational skills, and is able to handle competing priorities within demanding suspense timelines. The Scholar Coordinator is the main point of contact for SMART Scholarship Program Scholars, guiding and monitoring them throughout their tenure in the program to ensure all program requirements are met. The purpose of the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program is to produce the next generation of highly skilled DoD science and technology (S&T) leaders. SMART is a scholarship for service program that provides academic funding to undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for exceling in STEM fields. In exchange, students complete a period of full-time employment with the DoD where they are provided opportunities to further their work and research in civil service roles. The result is that the SMART Program strengthens the DoD by placing high performers into civilian STEM positions thereby enhancing specific facility mission delivery.
