* Base Pay Range: $19.15 - $30.23 per hour, based on experience

ABOUT THE JOB

Ensure the contracted cleaning services are meeting their contractual obligations through monthly inspections, meet with clinic managers, staff, and employee feedback. Complete quality reports and submit them to housekeeping contractor, facility leadership, and Director of Environmental Services monthly. Facilitate communications and maintain positive relationships between clinic management, staff, and the contractors and report any concerns to Director of Environmental Services. Assist offsite facility management staff with the submission of facility work orders and requests through proper channels. Act as contact between other contracted services and offsite facility management for pest control, confidential shredding, and waste management programs and ensures services are executed as per agreements. Provide support and assistance to the MU Health Care Environmental Services Department with assignments when assigned.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Ensure contracted staff have met the requirements for the vetting process and complete requests for ID badges, including ensuring individuals have appropriate facility badge or key access. Maintain log for completion of initial Staff Health requirements, update as needed when annual requirements are met. Maintain log of ID badge access locations and log of keys issued to contractors.

Ensure contracted cleaning services meet and maintain the department and organization criteria that align with the MU Health Care Mission and Goals and as specified in the MU Health Care Scope of Cleaning Services. Meets regularly with each offsite clinic and support building manager to solicit feedback on the performance of contractor cleaning services. Perform tours of each facility and complete a detailed written inspection of area. Notify contractor of any discrepancies and follow up until corrected. Provides oversight, and is the person of contact, regarding the custodial services for offsite clinic and support buildings.

Prepare for new offsite clinics and support buildings by working with interdisciplinary teams as new locations are identified to assure appropriate agreements are active/in place. Assure timely purchase and installation of dispensers and trash containers to assure the facility is ready for occupancy as scheduled. Assure housekeeping allocated space meets regulatory and safety requirements.

Either through landlord or MU Health Care agreements, ensure that contracts are in place for pre-occupancy cleaning, daily housekeeping services, pest control, confidential document shredding, biohazard waste disposal, trash service, entry mats, window cleaning, and plant care are initially in place for new facilities. Ensure purchase orders are created to include on billings from contractors to assure prompt payment of billings. Continue to work with contractor to provide access and provide information on adjustments to the facility needs.

Enter new/update facility information into EVS database system to maintain accurate information about square footage, types of flooring, and FTE requirements. Assure this information is used as new housekeeping agreements are negotiated and then ongoing as part of regular monthly inspection process.

Educate facility staff regarding how contracted cleaning services will perform cleaning tasks, how they will request restock of supplies, how orders are be placed and delivered.

Establish periodic meetings and tours with contractors to review the overall quality or to discuss logistics related to special projects; such as spring/fall carpet cleaning. Ensure compliance of the contract obligations are being fulfilled according to the terms of the agreement as specified in periodical duties listed in the MU Health Care Scope of Cleaning Services.

Work with facility staff in identifying maintenance concerns and assists in submitting work orders.

Will assist hospital facilities with the gathering and reporting of specific data upon request, including special projects. Provide support as a resource to other MU Health Care Environmental Service Departments and perform other duties as assigned.

May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.

Experience with focus on positive customer service and outcomes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of supervisory experience in the Environmental Service industry is strongly preferred.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs. and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs. or more.

This role may also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
