Intern - Electrical Engineering / I&E

Candidates must be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering. Sophomore-level students are eligible, with preference given to juniors.

Overview

The Electrical Engineering Intern will work alongside an Experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer in the Engineering and Technical Support department to support the project team in the design, construction, and commissioning of gas compressor stations and liquid pump station facilities. This position provides the intern with hands-on I&E field experience across facilities in the oil and gas midstream industry while supporting project efforts for commercial growth initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers with the design and installation of electrical and automation systems, motors, protective devices, instrumentation, and other electrical equipment used in pipeline and facility operations. The following is a summary of possible activities:

    • Controls System hardware support
      • Station Control system and network architecture
      • Assist in reviewing low-voltage cable and conduit schedules
      • Assist Low-voltage integration with Rotating Equipment
      • 3rd party vendor supplied skids integration support
    • Instrumentation support
      • P&ID review
      • Validating instrument index
      • Developing setpoints and operations
    • Integration/Programming support
      • Assist Functional Specification & ESD specification review
      • Assist Cause and Effect review
      • Assist on FAT/CAT validation
      • Integrating 3rd party skid, measurement, and remote communications
      • Commissioning support
    • Help review engineering drawings, vendor specifications, and electrical equipment documentation.
    • Support engineers in preparing and reviewing technical standards, specifications, and procedures.
    • Assist with project documentation, data collection, and coordination between engineering disciplines.
    • Gain exposure to industry standards, company engineering practices, and applicable regulations.
    • Contribute ideas and assist with troubleshooting or recommending improvements to ongoing projects.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum sophomore standing by the start of the internship.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and power distribution (coursework or lab experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic familiarity with AutoCAD or similar tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Interest in the energy or pipeline industry is strongly preferred.
