Location: On-Site,Tampa, FL (Full-Time)

Pay Range: $58-$63/HR

Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare detailed cost estimates for major construction projects and provide analytical and business support to senior staff. This role requires strong technical skills in cost estimation, quantity takeoffs, and benchmarking, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

This is a full-time, on-site opportunity offering exposure to large-scale, high-profile projects and a competitive compensation package with comprehensive benefits.


Key Responsibilities


  • Analyze drawings, blueprints, and project documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.



  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive cost breakdowns.



  • Produce "should cost" estimates to validate trade pricing and ensure cost competitiveness.



  • Review and reconcile trade partner bids against project scope, market conditions, and budget expectations.



  • Source and maintain current pricing data from contractors, suppliers, and industry databases.



  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to clarify scope and design intent.



  • Assist senior staff with identifying process efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.



  • Maintain organized project files and cost documentation according to company standards.



  • Support ongoing cost benchmarking and maintain an up-to-date cost data library.



  • Prepare reconciliations between multiple estimates and explain cost variances.



  • Conduct on-site visits as needed to assess project conditions and validate estimates.



  • Perform additional duties as assigned by project leadership.



Role Complexity and Decision-Making


  • Operates independently on most assignments with sound technical judgment.



  • Receives general guidance and approval for project plans and unusual situations.



  • May supervise or mentor junior technical staff assisting with estimating tasks.



Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline.



  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost estimating or preconstruction within a construction environment.



  • Professional certifications preferred: RICS, CCE, CCM, AIA, PE, ASPE, AACEI, CVS, AVS, LEED AP, RA, or related credentials.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Adobe Acrobat, and relevant estimating software.



  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.



  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational abilities.
