Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI (LSS) is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor - In Training (SAC-IT) to join our dedicated team in Janesville, WI. This role focuses on group therapy for individuals navigating substance use disorder and supporting their recovery journey. You'll work with referrals from Rock County, the Department of Corrections, and self-referrals.


What You'll Do

  • Provide supervised addiction counseling and case management in an outpatient setting.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions.
  • Complete assessments, diagnostics, and referrals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation per state, federal, and agency standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
  • Participate in staff development and training.
  • May require some evening hours to meet client needs.


What You'll Need

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Valid SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC license from WI DSPS.
  • 1+ year experience working with correctional populations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of addiction, recovery, and counseling principles.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 25%.
