Cash Application Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cash Application Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is critical to ensuring timely and accurate application of customer payments, supporting cash flow optimization, and maintaining clean accounts receivable records. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, demonstrates strong analytical skills, and collaborates effectively across departments.

• Apply customer payments to accounts receivable using ERP systems (e.g., Syspro, NetSuite)
• Reconcile daily bank deposits, lockbox files, ACH, wire transfers, credit card transactions and offset requests
• Collaborate with Credit & Collections, Sales, and Customer Service to resolve payment discrepancies
• Investigate short payments, deductions, and unapplied cash-often tied to freight, tax, or damaged goods claims
• Monitor and maintain accurate customer payment/account records, ensuring compliance with internal controls
• Assist with month-end close activities, including cash reconciliation and reporting
• Support audits by providing documentation and transaction history as needed
• Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce posting errors and manual intervention

• Associate's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of experience in cash applications role
• Proficiency in ERP systems, NetSuite, Syspro, SAP and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
• Familiarity with remittance formats (EDI, PDF, Excel) and invoice portals
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to data accuracy and SOX compliance
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Knowledge of sales tax implications and deduction management
• Understand freight terms, tax implications, and customer-specific payment behaviors
