Overview

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

This role is part of First Citizen Bank's (FCB) Risk Identification Team, which is part of the Enterprise Risk Management organization. This role will be responsible for managing and facilitating FCB's Material Risk Identification Program (MRID), an enterprise-wide risk identification process to capture the Bank's material risks inherent in the strategy and products of the businesses. Execution of this program requires strong project management capabilities, supported by a combination of analytical and critical thinking and interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of the enterprise risk identification process, from initiation, planning, facilitation, monitoring and control, communication and governance
  • Serve as the primary liaison and trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, including cross-functional business units and senior leadership, to facilitate the timely identification, assessment and reporting of material risks across the organization while building strong relationships
  • Develop and maintain program documentation to support facilitation (e.g., desktop guidance, program templates) of the risk identification process in alignment with defined standards and procedures
  • Develop and facilitate training in alignment with defined standards for internal stakeholders
  • Analyze and interpret risk data to support the identification and measurement of risk exposures, which can be translated into clear insights for executive leadership
  • Develop and maintain formal governance reporting materials (e.g., summary presentations for executive leadership) and formal program governance materials (e.g., standards and procedures)
  • Monitor and adjust the risk identification program, as needed, to ensure alignment with the Bank's risk profile, growth, and overall strategy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, and Project Management or Internal/External Consulting OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, and Project Management or Internal/External Consulting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of risk management techniques and practices
  • Clear and assertive written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organization, analysis, decision making and problem resolution skills with strong attention to detail
  • Understanding of financial reporting and comfortable in challenging financial and non-financial assumptions
  • Experience working with a GRC application (e.g., Archer)
  • Proficient in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data
  • Flexibility to respond to a changing environment

The base pay for this position is generally between $145,000 and $165,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
