Broadwind Industrial Solutions is searching for a CNC Plate Processing Machinist to join our team in Sanford, NC. Do you have water jet, plasma or laser plate processing experience and are able to program? If so, this is the job for you!! The CNC Plate Processing Machinist programs and operates computer-controlled cutting equipment and may oversee a broader range of tools, including drills, mills, lathes, and other machinery. Blueprint reading and interpretation is critical! Key responsibilities:
- Machine operation: Setting up, programming, and operating various CNC machine tools, including plasma and laser cutters, water jet, as well as mills, lathes, and punches.
- Part fabrication:Building, modifying, or repairing parts from blueprints, samples, or drawings.
- Programming:Interpreting CAD files and translating designs into machine code.
- Preventative maintenance:Performing routine maintenance on all machinery to ensure proper function.
- Quality inspection:Measuring and examining parts to verify they meet precise specifications and tolerances.
- Record keeping:Documenting production data and noting any nonconformities.
- Troubleshoot complex machining problems
- Read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, and machining print symbols.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as tape measure and calipers.
- Keep a clean and orderly work area. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
- Safely operate forklift equipment and overhead crane.
- All other duties as assigned.
Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two-year technical degree in Machining or an equivalent amount of machinist experience.
- 2 + years experience with multiple types of CNC plate processing equipment and tooling.
- Programming experience required.
Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability:
- Advanced understanding of blueprints, engineering drawings, and preferred experience in geometric dimensions and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex machining problems.
- Knowledge of various metal properties and machining techniques.
- Ability to read and understand machining print symbols necessary.
- Ability to safely operate overhead crane and forklift equipment.
- Strong attention to detail.
