Summary: The Healthcare Business Consultant is responsible business consulting, analytics, and project management, related to operational, programmatic, and financial management of healthcare operations across the UNC Health Statewide Network under the direction of System Affiliations leadership. The consultant also assists with strategic planning, market assessment, performance improvement activities, and initiatives to support management in decision-making in hospital operations and planning. The consultant will develop and present data independently, and in collaboration with others, related to business plans and operations to support local and system leadership in decision-making. Responsibilities:
- Lead (or work as a team member) cross-functional program team(s) for strategic projects across a large complex organization and assure timely and efficient completion of analysis and projects, proper communication of issues, and proper documentation of project and analytical work.
- Provide complex business analytics to senior management in support of service lines and statewide entities.
- Provide financial, operational, qualitative, and market planning advice and support to senior management in making programmatic decisions related to the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget
- Responsible for development of business plans across the statewide network from the concept/ forecasting phase through program launch. Assess existing programs and service lines based on actual outcomes and value. Develop and present complex financial models and strategic analysis that support growth opportunities.
- Work closely with and advise senior management, hospital and operational leaders, and physician leadership in both clinical and non-clinical service areas to facilitate growth while maximizing operational efficiencies. Growth may come from a variety of opportunities including improving business performance, expanding existing service lines and programs, and forming new service lines, facilities, or businesses.
- The HAC maintains positive, collaborative relationships with existing UNC Health Statewide Network affiliates, external health care organizations, and other UNC Health partners.

Education Requirements: * Requires Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Licensure/Certification Requirements: * No licensure or certification required. Professional Experience Requirements: * If Bachelors degree, three (3) years of experience required. If a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (i.e. Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Analytics, etc.), then one (1) year of experience is required. * If Master's degree, one (1) year of experience required. * If Associated degree, seven (7) years of experience required * If high school/GED, eleven (11) years of experience in business analysis, financial management or financial analysis. * If PhD, no years of experience required. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
- Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), intermediate proficiency required
- Project Management, intermediate proficiency preferred - Business plan analysis, Pro Forma development, Performance management analysis, limited proficiency accepted
- Customer/ Executive relationship management, intermediate proficiency required
- Fulfilling analytics requests; providing insights to answer operational questions; presenting to and supporting executives in project management and planning, intermediate proficiency required
- Ability to provide visual analysis of data in most effective mode of presentation, intermediate proficiency required
- Professional communication skills, both written and oral, including business writing and presenting, intermediate proficiency required
- Experience working at or in a consulting role with a health services delivery provider is strongly preferred
