Department: Kellogg Marketing

Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University is seeking exceptional candidates for a post-doctoral fellow position in the Center for Market Leadership, directed by Professor Gregory Carpenter. We have a broadly defined research agenda, exploring diverse topics related behavior analyses of competition, source of competitive advantage, branding, and organizational transformation to meet customer needs.

The fellowship is for three years starting September 1, 2026. Review of applications begins on January 4, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled.

Our priority is to attract strong researchers who are interested in asking bold new questions, develop interdisciplinary approaches that often employ multiple methods. Candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • PhD in a management discipline or social science (e.g., marketing, management, sociology, psychology, economics) or in a related discipline, including computer science or other disciplines that afford a computational perspective.

  • Prior experience in experimental design and working with large-scale data are very desirable, and expertise in machine learning is a strong plus.

  • An ability to work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, strong communication skills, and active participation in the scientific community.

The expected base pay range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000.

Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
