As the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Lead you will be responsible for the development and implementation of Environmental, Health, Safety policies and procedures at the corporate headquarters, innovation center (IC), as well as at the IPC-Eagle site. The person in this role also supports the Director of Global EHS in coordinating EHS programs enterprise wide. This emphasis will focus on safeguarding our employees; and helping Tennant manage our environmental impact on customers and communities.

Major Areas of Accountability:



  • Owns the development and execution of all aspects of EHS programs at the Tennant Headquarters in Eden Prairie Headquarters (EPHQ).
  • Coordinate EHS activities at the IPC-Eagle site as well as at the Innovation Center (IC).
  • Leads the emergency response planning and preparedness at the EPHQ, IPC-Eagle, and IC including coordination of emergency plan activities in partnership with the ERP team members within those three sites.
  • Support the Global EHS Director in coordinating enterprise EHS activities including metrics data gathering and analysis.
  • Chairs the Safety Committees for EPHQ, IPC-Eagle, and IC including coordination of the safety committee activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other Tennant representatives and outside consultants in defining and developing required policies and procedures, with specific emphasis on employee safety and environmental impacts.
  • Foster relationships with applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Partner with site leadership to complete incident investigations for assigned facilities.
  • Review, maintain and update Corporate EHS policies annually or as needed.
  • Collaborate with Learning and Development to develop and execute EHS related training based on corporate guidelines.
  • Ensure appropriate tracking and recordkeeping processes are met.
  • Assist in completing various federal, state, and local government reports, permits, and related documents.
  • Implement and conduct EHS audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Tennant standards.
  • Track Corporate EHS action plans, prepare standard leadership updates and manage the execution of tasks.
  • Support the Corporate EHS team with additional duties as assigned.



Required Experience and Education:



  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in EHS related field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) related positions in a multi-site industrial, manufacturing, or regulatory setting.
  • Excellent computer and systems knowledge; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Competency in data analysis.



Skills Required:



  • Working knowledge of EHS and hazardous materials transportation regulations/procedures.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining client service orientation.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information.
  • Consistent attendance either onsite or remotely as required by the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations.
  • Some overnight travel may be required (less than 10%)
  • Experience in SAP is a plus.


Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $83,500 - 125,100

Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Tennant Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity. Total Compensation = Base Salary + Benefits
