OVERVIEW
Merrick & Company is seeking a Technical Specialist in our Nuclear Services & Technology Team with nuclear fuel processing and metallurgical engineering expertise. This position is based out of our Greenwood Village, CO office. Typical annual pay range for this position is $162,500 - $198,700. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience. The candidate will work primarily on cutting edge nuclear facility and energy projects. Successful candidates will be assigned to a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers to execute design and engineering projects as well as provide subject matter expert (SME) guidance to the team for nuclear fuel processing and metallurgy topics.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provide SME expertise and support design activities for nuclear fuel material processing systems.
- Provide metallurgical engineering SME expertise for applicable designs including but not limited to: metallic fuel fabrication, casting, powder metallurgy, sintering, and post-irradiation materials handling.
- Analyze equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine appropriate designs.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of design documents including:
- Design Basis Documents
- Design Drawings
- Calculations
- Reports/Specifications
- Evaluate vendor submittals for selection of instrumentation and equipment.
- Review and check the work of other engineers to determine accuracy, completeness, and compliance with procedures.
- Coordination of design inputs and design activities with other engineering disciplines in a team environment.
- Ability and desire to lead a team of engineers, work as a Project Engineer on projects.
- Able to handle multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
- Support project proposal activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in metallurgical engineering.
- Minimum of sixteen (16) years related experience.
- Key previous design experience includes:
- Nuclear fuel material processing
- Metallurgical/materials engineering
- Candidate must be capable of and willing to obtain a Q clearance.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred
- Candidates willing to obtain PE license at earliest convenience will be considered
- Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Department of Energy (DOE) and/or Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) nuclear projects.
