Job Description
The Dairy Receiving Logistics Technician is responsible for the safe, accurate, and compliant receiving, handling, and documentation of dairy-based ingredients used in coffee manufacturing. This role ensures that all dairy products are received according to food safety standards, properly stored, and accurately tracked through inventory systems. The technician collaborates with Quality, Sanitation, and Production teams to maintain traceability, cleanliness, and readiness of dairy inputs for batching and processing.
Job Duties:
Ingredient Receiving & Verification
- Receive incoming dairy shipments (e.g., milk powders, creamers, concentrates) and verify against purchase orders
- Inspect incoming materials for temperature, seal integrity, cleanliness, and documentation compliance
- Perform sampling and coordinate with QA for product release
Inventory & Documentation
- Accurately record lot codes, quantities, and expiration dates in ERP or MES systems
- Maintain FIFO rotation and traceability of dairy ingredients
- Label and stage dairy products for batching and production use
- Track and report discrepancies, damaged goods, or non-conforming materials
Sanitation & Compliance
- Ensure receiving areas and dairy storage zones meet GMP and SQF Level 3 standards
- Clean and sanitize dairy transfer equipment, hoses, and containers per sanitation SOPs
- Support allergen control protocols and prevent cross-contamination
Logistics & Coordination
- Communicate with carriers, warehouse, and production teams to coordinate unloading and staging
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely
- Assist in scheduling and prioritizing dairy deliveries based on production needs
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate receiving logs and documentation for internal and third-party audits
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to receiving efficiency and ingredient quality
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1+ year experience in food manufacturing or ingredient receiving preferred
- Familiarity with dairy handling, allergen protocols, and food safety standards
- Basic computer proficiency (ERP, MES, Microsoft Office)
- Certified forklift operator or willingness to obtain certification
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
