Job Description

Full time pediatric genetic counseling position available. Our genetic counselors participate in both pediatric and adult counseling opportunities for a variety of both general and metabolic services. Counselors serve the people of mid-Missouri in addition to the local Mennonite/Amish populations. This position will be a full-time patient-facing role serving the medical genetics clinic and in-patient consults. This position will also require willingness to travel to an outreach clinic site in Springfield, MO.

Job Duties Include:

1. Procurement and review of medical records; collection and interpretation of family health and social history; analysis and interpretation of clinical/laboratory results including evaluation of complex medical/genetic literature and databases for disclosure of results

2. Assistance in patient assessment, diagnosis, and counseling regarding etiology, inheritance, incidence/carrier risks, and natural history/prognosis for genetic conditions; perform psychosocial assessment and counseling during genetic consultation

3. Review and triage incoming referrals including NICU and PICU consults; serve as genetics liaison for multi-disciplinary clinics; formulate genetic testing and/or medical recommendations in collaboration with physicians and healthcare providers; assessment of appropriate testing/laboratory selection; facilitate patient decision making and testing consent

4. Documentation of patient encounters and counseling sessions; development of patient education resources, referrals, and standards of practice

5. Reimbursed travel to Springfield, MO will be required for an outreach clinic serving rural populations 3 days/month.

Shift

Shift Type: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday- Friday

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited Genetic Associate Program or master's degree in medical genetics, genetics counseling or training program.
Board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) or the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $68,265.60 - $111,425.60
Grade: PAT - 010
