| Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
This position is part of the Business Core Service Team (
BCST) within UNCW's College of Health and Human Services (
CHHS). This position reports to the Director of Operations and assists with management of the equipment in
CHHS with an emphasis on the equipment in labs.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing technical and mechanical support for simulations, interprofessional education and research approved by Director of Operations
- Managing and operating labs and technical equipment within CHHS
- Maintaining, upgrading, and repairing technical equipment in labs by ensuring functionality, and requesting parts and replacements as needed
- Installing and troubleshooting programs used for instruction
- Serving as the primary point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and community partners' lab equipment and software needs
- Coordinating space planning of labs to optimize teaching, research, and community engagement
- Serve as IT's point of contact for shared lab computers within the college
- Assisting the Director of Operations with lab space renovations by identifying potential space conflicts, equipment needs and solutions
- Assist with scholarly research in labs utilizing specialized equipment and technology by training faculty and staff, scheduling, setting up equipment, and providing technical troubleshooting support
- Managing communication and documentation related to new initiatives and collaborations occurring in lab spaces
- Supervising lab space and operating technical equipment during community engagement activities, healthcare simulations, and interprofessional education programs
- Training and supervising student office assistants responsible for routine lab monitoring and maintenance across CHHS managed spaces
- Collaborating with stakeholders, community partners, faculty, and staff for research and interprofessional education projects
- Cross-training to other operations and core service team members

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Preferred education, professional skills and experience |
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Master's Degree or at least 2 years of related work experience
- Experience maintaining and repairing fitness equipment
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent customer services skills
- Experience managing labs in a health and human service field
- Experience working with faculty and medical professionals
- Have the ability to build authentic partnerships with faculty, staff, students, and community partners, and have technical skills, such as report development, focus group facilitation, and project management
- Practice independent decision making on complex projects
