About our group:

The Data Analytics (DA) team in Characterization and Analytics Group develops big data analytics, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to support R&D design and development activities within Recording Head Technology organization.

About the role - you will:

  • Design, implement and evaluate agentic AI solutions that improve interpretability and reasoning performance.
  • Document findings and present insights to teammates and stakeholders.

About you:

  • Passionate about data and analytics with GenAI, AI & ML capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with proven problem-solving skills and out-of-box thinking mindset.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills needed in collaborative cross functional high tech R&D team environment.

Your experience includes:

  • Currently pursuing a Master degree or PhD degree in Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics fields and returning to school in Fall 2026.
  • Strong understanding of LLM based agentic AI framework and architecture, including Chain-of-Thought reasoning capability.
  • Experience with prompt & chain design.
  • Experience with Python and common ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and reasoning strategies for LLMs.
  • Solid foundation in machine learning concepts, NLP, and model evaluation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.



You might also have:



  • Knowledge of reinforcement learning or fine-tuning techniques for reasoning tasks.
  • Proficiency with Linux OS and terminal command line is a plus.
  • Git version control.
  • Web based dashboard and visualization.

Our Normandale campus spans two suburbs, Edina and Bloomington, and serves as the Recording Head development and manufacturing arm of Seagate. The estimated base wage range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan. Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave. The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
