JOB DESCRIPTION

PIMCO is seeking an account manager for the U.S. Financial Institutions Group (FIG), focused on insurance companies. The position will reside in the PIMCO FIG Account Management team of 25+ investment professionals and associates with specific focus supporting FIG Strategic Opportunities.

This will be a dynamic role focused on initiatives to grow our private credit footprint with insurers through innovative structures and vehicles such as rated notes, separately managed accounts, IDFs, etc. This role may also support FIG initiatives in our public fixed income business.

The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to (1) lead strategic projects to develop new business areas for our insurance clients (2) support new business development opportunities with insurance companies as a specialist; (3) support client servicing efforts for specialized parts of our business (4) organize and direct firm resources (e.g., PMs, Product Specialists, Marketing Specialists, etc.) to deliver solutions and investment content in partnership with other account managers on the team.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of the industry shifts taking place in the insurance asset management industry such as the convergence of insurance and asset management and growth in insurance company demand for private credit. Specific knowledge of risk-based capital regimes, particularly for life insurers, is a plus. Knowledge of private credit and fixed income will be critical for this person to interact across the firm on these initiatives.

The candidate with have an entrepreneurial mindset and develop a sense for prioritization of opportunities based on client and market demands and broader PIMCO strategic direction.

Additionally, as part of the FIG team, this individual will have a role interacting with clients and supporting business development initiatives.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

  • Senior investment professionals at insurance companies and intermediaries
  • PIMCO Investment Professionals including Account Managers, Product Specialists, Portfolio Managers, and Account Associates
  • Various departments including but not limited Marketing, Analytics, Technology, Legal and Compliance and Operations

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead strategic projects to develop new business areas for our insurance clients
  • Quarterback firm resources (e.g., PMs, product specialists, servicing AMs) to deliver solutions and investment content
  • Support new business development opportunities with insurance companies as a specialist
  • Support client servicing efforts for parts of our business that required specific expertise (i.e., rated notes)
  • Contribute to insurance focused thought leadership (e.g., articles) and liaise with industry media partners which are leveraged in broad business development and marketing efforts
  • Travel, attend client related events and industry conferences

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong understanding of industry themes (business trends, regulatory, corporate finance) across insurance segments (e.g., life, health, P&C, reinsurance)
  • Proficiency discussing strategies and respective insurance regulatory and accounting implications
  • Strong insurance industry contacts and successful track record building business
  • Thorough understanding of PIMCO strategies (alternatives, core, non-core, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, public speaking / presentation and written communication skills
  • Capital markets expertise (fixed income, equities, real assets, etc.)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • MBA or equivalent from a top program
  • Other advanced certificate (e.g., CFA / CAIA, CPA, FSA, FRM)
  • Undergraduate degree from a top university and strong academic record
  • 5-10 years prior experience with insurance industry coverage and knowledge, such as insurance asset management distribution, investment banking and investment consulting
  • Insurance and bank investment regulatory knowledge (e.g., NAIC Risk-Based Capital) and /or accounting experience (e.g., GAAP and Statutory accounting)
  • FINRA Licenses: 7, 63, 3
PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.
Salary Range: $ 180,000.00 - $ 240,000.00
