Hourly Pay Range:

$22.14 - $33.21 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Supervisor, Environmental Services, Edward Hospital
  • Location: Naperville, IL
  • Full Time - 40 hours
  • Hours: Evenings, 3pm - 11:30pm

What you will do:

Responsible for supervising, coordinating and organizing activities of assigned subordinate personnel engaged in cleaning and sanitizing assigned corporation facilities. Tours EHSC facilities and areas to observe cleaning crews in action and ensures all instructions and safety rules are followed. Trains personnel in proper cleaning and sanitation methods. Determines upcoming cleaning assignments, ensures completion of shift workload, and completes logs of incidents and activities.

  • Supervises and coordinates the work of assigned subordinate personnel engaged in various housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, mopping and waxing floors, washing beds, relocating furniture, removing rubbish and so forth in order to maintain EHSC facilities in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Functions as a back-up housekeeper as needed.
  • Supervises and coordinates the work of assigned subordinate personnel engaged in various tasks such as transporting patients, disinfecting department equipment, delivering and retrieving medical equipment, transporting laboratory specimens, and fielding incoming calls to the department dispatch center.
  • Prepares work schedules in order to provide adequate coverage at all times. Establishes work priorities and determines work assignments. Changes schedules and reassigns subordinates in response to work load demands or staffing shortages.
  • Monitors work quality on a regular basis through use of inspection reports in order to ensure work of subordinates meets Hospital, governmental and regulatory agency standards. Issues corrective instructions and conducts follow-up inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Interviews, hires, orients, trains and evaluates the performance of and, when necessary, disciplines and discharges subordinate personnel with approval by Manager. Provides direction, as necessary, to staff regarding sensitive and/or complex work, related problems, resolves complaints and responds to inquires regarding department operations.
  • Reviews patient discharge schedules and ensures patient rooms are cleaned in a timely manner. Notifies appropriate Hospital personnel when room(s) are clean and available for new patients.
  • Provides input into the development of departmental policies, procedures and budgets, and assists in administering same.
  • Utilizes the computer for inventory, payroll reports, communication, etc.
  • Maintains designated customer service goals and retention levels.
  • Oversees receipt and distribution of housekeeping supplies. In doing so, ensures appropriate inventory of housekeeping materials, supplies and equipment is maintained, and requisitions replacement items as needed.
  • May handle hazardous materials.

What you will need:

  • A High School diploma or GED
  • A minimum of five years of housekeeping experience or a minimum of three years of supervisory experience
