Primary Purpose:

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing the network infrastructure and application components. Perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company and user satisfaction. Provide direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations. Create and manage technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Optimize and Support Cisco SD-WAN (formerly Viptela) network. This includes a heavy emphasis on policy optimization and design.
  • Deployment, Optimization, and Support of Cisco Firepower Threat Defense devices. A functional knowledge of Cisco Advanced Security Appliances would also be required as there is an ongoing migration.
  • Maintain and help to develop Network Automation using the Ansible and DNA Center orchestration platforms.
  • Manage and tune the Cisco Identity Services Engine suite that is used for organization authentication and identity verification.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.)
  • Maintain, configure and setup network and voice security through standard, best-practice configuration
  • Modifies and maintains network design and architecture to ensure compliance
  • May take on role of project leader for projects as needed
  • Utilize deep understanding of network configuration to identify and respond to security audits
  • Assist network and voice engineers with resolving more difficult network challenges
  • Utilize network management applications to review overall network health and diagnose specific areas of concern
  • Support Telecommunications and QoS through the deployment of best practice design
  • Collaborates with other teams on designs and plans
  • Design, setup and configure complex routing and switching environments
  • Design, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of LAN and WAN technologies
  • Maintain multi-site network, voice, and associated security operations
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions of network, voice, or security hardware and software applications, to resolve operational issues and restore services
  • Track project work and tasks using the currently-accepted workflow system
  • Participate in engineering on-call schedule
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager
  • Obey all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).


Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:



  • Minimum 5-7 years IT experience in a variety of technologies including: devices, network, servers, and storage
  • Current CCNA or CCNP Certification (with Enterprise Routing and Switching Competencies)
  • Understanding of VoIP networking and related QoS settings
  • Understanding of advanced networking concepts (IP Addressing, routing, switching, OSI, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, protocol analysis, etc.)
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
  • Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities
  • Team player who can also work independently
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all employees, staff and service providers and have a team player attitude
  • Must be flexible with work hours as business needs arise


Physical Requirements:



  • Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
  • Exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
  • Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
