Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is seeking a Knowledge Management Specialist to support Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) through Air Combat Command (ACC). The Knowledge Management Specialist will help develop and maintain the organization's knowledge environment to foster effective collaboration and information sharing across tools, systems, and mission partners. This role requires a strong attention to detail, an understanding of knowledge management processes, and the ability to support data organization and collaboration platforms in a dynamic, mission-focused environment.



Responsibilities

    Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining knowledge management (KM) strategies to improve information sharing and collaboration across PACAF and ACC mission areas.
  • Administer SharePoint and related KM environments, including permissions, site structure, libraries, and document control.
  • Maintain and update KM systems such as SharePoint, APAN, event portals, and After Action Review/Lessons Learned (AAR/LL) databases.
  • Support records and information management in accordance with DoD and Air Force policies, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and secure.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining virtual communities of interest to promote collaboration, share lessons learned, and capture best practices across organizations.
  • Track and report KM usage metrics to measure effectiveness of collaboration tools and support continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth flow of information and data exchange between systems.
  • Support the deployment, configuration, and customization of SharePoint sites, ensuring proper functionality, user access, and compliance with security standards.
  • Provide user assistance and basic training on KM tools, document repositories, and collaboration systems.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to enhance usability and efficiency of KM environments.


Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Knowledge Management, Communications, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience supporting information management, collaboration platforms, or KM environments within the DoD or a similar organization.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint administration, content management, and permissions control.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative platforms (Teams, OneDrive, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize information logically and maintain consistency in records and document libraries.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting Air Force or Joint Command information environments, including APAN or DoD SharePoint.
  • Working knowledge of DoD records management policies, metadata tagging, and data access controls.
  • Understanding of information governance, taxonomy design, or workflow automation within SharePoint.
  • Experience assisting with KM metrics, dashboards, or knowledge capture processes.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Associate, Knowledge Management Professional, CompTIA Security+).

Work Location: Work is performed in Hampton, Virginia.

Clearance: Active TS/SCI security clearance required. Must be a U.S. citizen.
