Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. in Mount Holly Springs, PA is a market leader in designing, manufacturing, and marketing Frequency Control, Sensor, and Hybrid Product solutions using the latest cutting-edge techniques. For over 70 years, the Mount Holly Springs facility has provided solutions for Satellite Constellations, Deep Space Exploration Missions, Military Systems, GPS, Communication Networks, and much more. Primary responsibilities of the Quality Technician will center around the following 3 areas:

1. Radiography

  • Radiographic evaluation of electronic assemblies in accordance with military and customer standards and factory-defined techniques.
  • Photographic documentation and written reporting of completed evaluations.
  • Start-up, shutdown, and basic troubleshooting of x-ray equipment. This requires the skills and knowledge to process parts and perform equipment standardization, as well as knowing any necessary preparation of parts before or after inspection. The employee will participate in investigations, as needed, to assist engineering groups with troubleshooting components or processes.

2. Documentation/Verification

  • Documentation of components for kitting of product lots to assure traceability during release from stock to assembly.
  • Updating information when additional components arrive that were not available on initial release or were changed.
  • Comparison of production traceability record to initial traceability plan to ensure accuracy of records.

3. Evaluation

  • Critical evaluation of customer purchase orders and specifications to identify key production parameters, including date restrictions, test requirements, and inspection points.

Note: The successful candidate will commit to completing classroom training and examination in American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Radiography Level I. This will require on-the-job practical training of approximately six months for a candidate without Nondestructive Testing (NDT) experience.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalency
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, inspection, or imaging (can include or be a combination of post-high school education, on the job experience, and/or military experience related to quality assurance, inspection or imaging)
  • Visual acuity for reading x-ray images (corrective lenses okay)

Preferred:

  • Experience with military and/or aerospace standards
  • Experience with radiography or other non-destructive evaluation
U.S. Export Controls Requirements: This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3).
