The Integrated Security Designer is responsible for the design, layout, and documentation of integrated electronic security systems. Systems may include access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, and intercom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed design drawings, riser diagrams, system layouts, and wiring schematics for integrated security systems.
  • Design solutions using applicable codes and standards.
  • Select appropriate equipment, devices, and materials to meet performance, regulatory, and budget requirements.
  • Produce complete design packages, including floor plans, device schedules, point-to-point diagrams, and scope-of-work documentation.
  • Prepare submittals, bill of materials, cut sheets, and as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate design revisions based on feedback from project managers, clients, field technicians, and AHJs.
  • Work closely with internal engineering teams, project managers, CAD technicians, and installation crews to ensure design intent is met.
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss design requirements, timelines, and technical solutions.
  • Assist security sales staff in the take offs/ specification reviews and vetting of potential new sales opportunities

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience designing integrated security or low-voltage systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion, etc.).
  • AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM modeling certifications.
  • Strong understanding of security and life safety codes and best practices.
  • Proficiency with CAD software, system design tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
