Job Description:

We are seeking a Junior Data Scientist - Object Based Intelligence (OBI) Analytic Efficiency to discover and analyze complex data sets and data sources to derive actionable insights using statistical methods, machine learning and data visualization tools. This position will support multiple DIA initiatives, including the Machine-Assisted Rapid-Repository System (MARS), Object Management Services (OMS), and Object-Based Intelligence (OBI).

Work locations vary throughout the National Capital Region (NCR), with Reston, VA and Washington, DC being primary locations.

Responsibilities include:

DataSciencespecifically:

• Conducts data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictiveanalysis, and statistical analysis.
• Utilizesscientific techniques to correlate data intographical, written, visual and verbal narrative productstoinformhigh qualityanalyticdecisions.
• Proactively retrievesdatafromvarioussourcesand analyzedatafor betterunderstanding.
• BuildsandutilizesArtificial Intelligence (AI)/ Machine Learning (ML)tools toautomate processesfor efficiencies.
• Builds high quality prediction systems.
• Utilizes data visualization and graphical applications, to includeMicrosoft Office(Power BI) and Tableau.
• Utilizes major data science languages, such as R and Python.
• Performs management andmerging of disparate data sources, preferably through R, Python, or SQL.
• Performsstatisticalanalysis,and data mining algorithms.

OBI specifically:

• Designs, develops, and evaluates leading-edge algorithmic intelligence concepts,practices, and technologies for implementation into OBI.
• Recommendsadvanced statistical or mathematical techniques andmethodologythat maypermitidentification and evaluation of alternatives.
• Assistsin model formulation orexperimental test design.
• Shares joint in team responsibility for development ofadvanced analytic techniques and assessments.
• Collaborates with team members to develop and refine exploratory effortsleveragingnovel technologies.
• Automates ontologies and associated components to ensure semantic accuracy,relevance, and interoperability.
• Evaluates data science,AI/ML, and other advanced analytic methods forrisks, biases, and limitations.
• Collaborates with team members to develop and refine semantic data retrieval andreasoning across knowledge graphs through development and optimization of dataqueries via multiple protocols (e.g.GraphQL, SPARQL, SHACL, SQL).
• Maintains currency withindependent research on methods of analysis in government,industry, and academia to keep abreast of thestate of the artand keepsenior leadership informed.
• Provides incremental enhancements to tools, capabilities, processes, and methods.
• Adviseson emerging data science methods, tools, algorithms, training, orrequirements.
• Serves as the primary POC for data scienceexpertise, ensuring tradecraft compliance andanalytic standards as it relates to data science techniques on the contract.
• Ensures compliance with tradecraft standards and adherence to best practices inAIsystem development and deployment.
• Assesses OBI documentation for completeness, accuracy, and thoroughness, and providedetailed feedbackto owners and developers.
• Provides consultation and guidance to owners, developers, and stakeholders on OBIgovernance and knowledge modeling, including best practices forAIsystem development,testing, and deployment.
• Collaborates with team members toidentifyand implement practices for responsibleAIdevelopment, toincludebias detection, hallucination recognition,prompt fairness testing, adherence to analytic tradecraft standards and security policies.
• Supports stakeholdersin translating technical documentationinto analytic tradecraft compliant language.
• Supports and automates entity recognition and extraction summarization,in accordance withanalytic tradecraft standards.
• Conduct audits to ensures compliant use of systems for approved use-casesin all source analysis.
• Develops andmaintainsa repository of audit findings and recommendations tofacilitateknowledge sharing and best practices.
• Providestechnical input into andparticipatein the development of software and computer graphics systems.
• Writesscripts to drive data science workflows.
• Workswith ambiguous information, deconstruct key questions,leveragespatial data,exploit application programming interfaces, suggest methodologies,anddevelop dataschemas to structure observations.
• Works with vendors and software development to implement distributedalgorithms.

Here's what you need:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, OR 7+ years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the concepts involved in the specific job functions.
• Knowledgeable of and demonstrated ability to apply IC and DoD classification guidelines and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to use logic and systematic approaches to gather, evaluate, and synthesize multiple sources of information.
• Demonstrated ability to work semi-independently with oversight and direction.
• Demonstrated ability to use logic when evaluating and synthesizing multiple sources of information. Demonstrated ability to interpret analysis to include, but is not
  limited to, its meaning, importance, and implications. Demonstrates ability to defend analytic judgements with sound, logical conclusions and adapt analytic judgments when presented with new information, evolving conditions, or unexpected developments.
• Ability to produce timely, logical, and concise analytic reports, documents, assessments, studies, and briefing materials in formats including Microsoft Office
  tools (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), electronic / soft copy matrices and / or web-enabled formats.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues clearly in a concise and organized manner both verbally and non-verbally; with strong grammar skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office tools.
• Demonstrated ability to develop structured research including, but not limited to, obtaining, evaluating, organizing, and maintaining information within security and
  data protocols. Demonstrated ability to recognize nuances and resolve contradictions and inconsistencies in information.
