EHS/EMS Specialist

The primary focus for this position is to support the Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability programs at Advanced Bionics.

The EHS/EMS Specialist is responsible for supporting the Sr. Manager of facilities in leading the Advanced Bionics EHS & Sustainability programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, ISO 14001 certification standards, and meet Sonova Corporate ESG requirements.

The EHS/EMS Specialist will assist with EHS & Sustainability projects, accountable for EHS/EMS metrics and will achieve the company's ISO 14001 EMS certification program in adherence to 2015 requirement and prepare for the 2026 requirement standard to be released.

Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for daily oversight AB's EHS/EMSCSP Programs.
  • Deliver on EHS&S priorities and goals consistent with the company objectives and targets.
  • Continuously monitor all aspects of EHS&S performance to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and fulfill Sonova Corporate EHS&ESG requirements.
  • Assist department as point of contact and communication with Federal, State, and Local regulators as necessary, coordinate communication actions with internal stakeholders (SONOVA Environmental Corporate) and consultants as necessary.
  • Champion EHS Compliance and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices of all EHS standards and applicable regulations.
  • Lead incident investigation programs, reports or review findings, note trends and develop programs (Corrective Actions) to enhance EHS performance.
  • Responsible for providing and communicating employee EHS training, Emergency Response, and other Environmental Health and Safety plans.
  • Assist with cross functional teams to coordinate delivery of environmental compliance and safety performance.
  • Will assist department leadership with advising on EHS & Sustainability matters pertaining to change requests, improvement projects, and project expenditures within the company.
  • Responsible for assisting with AB's carbon footprint and reducing GHG emissions.
  • Responsible for chemical inventory management and SDS documentation and review.
  • Manage and ensure sustainability reporting (SONOVA We Sustain, Internal Reporting Metrics, Annual ESG Reports, others as needed).
  • Participate in the SONOVA ESG and Sustainability meetings.
  • Assist department leadership with development of strategic planning to improve energy efficiency, water and waste efficiency
  • Maintain the EMS ISO 14001 program certification.
  • Assist in driving continuous improvement initiatives in workplace safety and environmental performance.
  • Assist management in working with HR as cross-functional support for Safety to WC (Workers' comp) to reduce work related injuries and risks.
  • Co-lead and train safety committee and ERT/HRT teams.
  • Lead Workplace Violence Training for AB LLC and ensure the company remains in compliance with this mandatory training.

More about you:



  • Bachelor's degree (bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Sustainability, or relevant field preferred)
  • Professional certifications in EHS and sustainability (such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or LEED Accredited Professional)
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional),CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager),QEP(Qualified Environmental Professional) OSHA 10 or 30
  • Minimum 5 years EHS/EMS experience in manufacturing (previous medical device preferred)
  • Demonstrate data analysis skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of hazardous waste, air emissions and water discharges regulatory programs at the Federal, State and local levels.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of OSHA programs and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of GMP practices in FDA regulated environment
  • English language fluency (verbal and written)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite


    • Safety and LMS software preferred.




A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova

This role's pay range is between $75,200/yr - $112,800/yr. This role is also bonus eligible.
