Labor and Employment Paralegal Location: Houston, Texas 77055 Schedule: * Training: 5 days per week in office * Post-training: Manager will decide readiness for flex to 4 days in office * Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (1-hour unpaid lunch) * Interview Process: Two rounds (combination of virtual and in-person) Summary We are seeking an experienced Labor and Employment Paralegal to join our House Counsel team in Houston, Texas. Key Responsibilities * Assist attorneys on labor and employment matters, including responding to demand letters, charges of discrimination, and litigation in state and federal courts. * Drive the discovery process by preparing, assembling, and serving discovery demands, responses, and correspondence accurately and timely under attorney guidance. * Follow up with clients and adversaries for compliance with discovery demands and court orders; draft letters and motions where appropriate. * Prepare reports summarizing discovery responses and records for attorney review. * Stay current with court rules, regulations, and e-filing procedures. * Maintain accurate data in ProLaw and ensure timely updates. * Collaborate with attorneys on discovery, correspondence, motions, and trial preparation. * Prioritize assignments and meet statutory and court deadlines using an accurate calendar system. * Develop proficiency in legal research and writing to maintain and improve skills. * Coordinate trial preparation activities with the team. Competencies & Skills * Excellent customer service and strong Microsoft Office proficiency. * Ability to navigate and manage case management systems effectively. * Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. * Exceptional time management and organizational skills in a high-volume environment. * Highly self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently under pressure. * Legal research ability preferred. * Experience with ProLaw preferred but not required. Education & Experience * Mandatory: Minimum 2+ years of employment law experience. * 3-5 years of paralegal experience strongly preferred. * Paralegal Certificate or Degree in Paralegal Studies preferred but not required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.50 - $37.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
