About the Organization
Now is a great time to join Redhorse Corporation. We are a solution-driven company delivering data insights and technology solutions to customers with missions critical to U.S. national interests. We're looking for thoughtful, skilled professionals who thrive as trusted partners building technology-agnostic solutions and want to apply their talents supporting customers with difficult and important mission sets.
About the Role
Redhorse Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to support a Sponsor office responsible for building, securing, and operating a hybrid-cloud mission infrastructure. This environment hosts dozens of COTS, GOTS, and custom applications, a large-scale data lake, and mission services that operate independently of enterprise IT. The Systems Engineering team will provide architecture, engineering, implementation, and operational expertise across compute, network, storage, and enterprise services including VDI, Active Directory, and audit/logging.
The selected candidate will help guide multiple mission systems through security accreditation, develop and maintain technical documentation, translate mission requirements into technical designs, and support full-lifecycle engineering efforts. This role requires strong systems engineering discipline, deep technical troubleshooting experience, and the ability to support global users in a fast-paced operational environment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support the architecture, engineering, implementation, and operations of hybrid-cloud infrastructure, including compute, network, storage, and enterprise services.
  • Lead systems through Sponsor security accreditation processes; develop System Security Plans, SOPs, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Decompose mission requirements into technical solutions, considering system performance, lifecycle costs, and architectural impacts.
  • Provide technical briefings and updates to Sponsor customers and governance boards at all levels.
  • Support estimation, scheduling, and cost analysis for cloud and on-premises solutions.
  • Ensure integrity of data flows and provide engineering support to enhance mission efficiency and insights.
  • Develop, implement, and standardize processes for installation, maintenance, and enhancement of middleware applications.
  • Provide technical and strategic guidance regarding new database development and ongoing support of major existing databases.
  • Deliver real-time and on-call support to global users; provide end-to-end support for field network and forensic capabilities.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend systems, tools, and technologies to enhance existing mission systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical and access issues for worldwide user populations.
  • Inspect, test, and validate equipment prior to deployment; perform server installation, rack/capacity planning, and equipment commissioning/decommissioning.
  • Apply system patches, perform upgrades, monitor storage utilization, and ensure data security and resilience.
  • Use application deployment documentation and developer guidance to determine optimal infrastructure approaches.
  • Install and configure IT infrastructure, operating systems, and mission applications while adapting implementation approaches to varying project constraints.
  • Elicit requirements from mission stakeholders and deliver solutions aligned to operational needs.
  • Provide Tier 1-Tier 3 support within a 24/7/365 on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience using forensic tools such as Cellebrite, XRY, WinHex, FTK, and Autopsy.
  • Experience with bash scripting and command-line operations in Ubuntu and RedHat.
  • Experience designing and architecting storage systems in multi-petabyte environments.
  • Experience with multiple Windows environments, including troubleshooting, patching, updates, Active Directory, and user/security support.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and configuring Aspera Enterprise Server and Aspera P2P.
  • Experience maintaining, configuring, and administering MongoDB databases.
  • Experience analyzing existing systems and identifying corrective actions or improvements.
  • Hands-on experience with server installation, rack/capacity planning, facility/space management, and equipment commissioning/decommissioning.
  • Ability to develop and maintain SOPs for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience teaching digital forensics to large, diverse audiences.
  • Experience creating, maintaining, and distributing curated work data.
  • Experience providing after-action and integration support for deployed software and systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience providing Tier 1-Tier 3 support, including system troubleshooting and incident management.
  • Hands-on experience serving as an Engineering Lead, including project coordination, scheduling, and conflict resolution across engineering activities.
  • Experience using the Sponsor's digital forensic triage application.
