Job Summary

The Commercial Service Plumber is responsible for performing intermediate-level commercial plumbing service, maintenance, and repairs. This role works independently on most tasks and provides high-quality customer service while ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently. The Plumber may provide guidance to junior technicians and assists with diagnosing complex issues under limited supervision.


Essential Duties

Service & Repair
  • Perform service, maintenance, and repairs on commercial plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment.

  • Diagnose issues and recommend appropriate repair solutions.

  • Install, repair, and maintain piping, valves, fixtures, water heaters, boilers, pumps, and related equipment.

  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and ensure proper system operation.

  • Clear drains and address sewer-related service calls using proper tools and equipment.

Technical & Safety
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and job specifications to determine work details.

  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes, as well as company safety standards.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.

  • Follow lockout/tagout, confined space, and other safety procedures as required.

Customer Service & Communication
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding findings, recommended solutions, and service options.

  • Complete work orders, service tickets, and documentation accurately and on time.

  • Provide guidance or mentoring to Apprentice or Plumber I team members when needed.

Operational Support
  • Participate in the on-call rotation as required.
  • Assist in estimating labor, materials, and equipment needs for service work.
  • Operate company vehicle safely and maintain proper upkeep.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of commercial plumbing service experience preferred.

  • Experience working in commercial or industrial settings, including restaurants, retail, healthcare, or institutional facilities.

Licenses & Certifications
  • Texas Journeyman Plumbing License required.

  • Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record.

  • Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) certification a plus.

  • Medical Gas certification preferred but not required.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Solid understanding of plumbing codes, materials, and tools.

  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
