Position Summary

Under guidance of the Lead Core Network Engineer and team this position will be responsible for the implementation and support of UIC's converged IP network. Must have knowledge of TCP/IP, have hands-on network experience with installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of switches, firewalls, and routers in an enterprise-wide environment. Responsible for completion of daily tasks and project requests in a timely matter and expected to participate in emergency service calls and network technical projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implement, configure, and maintain WAN and LAN routers, firewalls, and switches.
  • Monitor network usage and system performance. Manage day-to-day duties including support clients on edge networks by completing timely service calls and implementing approved daily network changes to switches and routers.
  • Provide support to various special network projects and end users.
  • Update documentation, specifications, and network standards. Evaluate new and emerging technologies.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:
  1. Bachelor Degree within Computer Science or closely related field of study
  2. Minimum 1 years of professional IT experience within Infrastructure & Networking Engineering which includes demonstrated experience in planning, building/implementation of communication Networks (LAN/WAN/VPN) that support high performance voice, data, video and wireless network services
