Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
NCGrowth is a national center building an economy with opportunities for all to prosper. We provide technical assistance to small, rural businesses and other organizations to create good jobs and new wealth in economically distressed communities. We produce applied research and develop innovative policies that promote equitable development. We host unique, cross-sector convenings and workshops to bring together diverse perspectives. With staff in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Washington, DC, our work and thought leadership range in scope from hyper-local to international. NCGrowth is an affiliated center of the UNC Chapel Hill Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise.
Position Summary
Analysts work alongside other NCGrowth staff to provide technical assistance to community leaders, business owners, policymakers, and anchor institution leaders in order to create good jobs and new wealth in economically distressed communities. Since 2012, analysts have helped hundreds of NCGrowth clients.

Analysts are temporary employees located in South Carolina and are recent graduates or current graduate or PhD students in Agriculture, Business Administration, Marketing & Communications, Education/Instructional Design and other disciplines. This is a remote position; however, we are currently seeking analysts to travel to clients in South Carolina 2-3 times over the course of the projects. Work will start in November 2025.

Examples of Past Projects:

* Natural Haircare Product Line Marketing & Social Media Plan
* Forestry and farm management plans
* Manufacturing process improvement study
* Financial modelling, business plans, marketing and communication plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), HR policies, etc. for small rural businesses
* Connect small farmers to grocery chains and other institutional buyers
* Analyze purchasing data to improve institutional procurement processes
* Cultural and agritourism development
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Professional experience in:
