Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Placement and Rehabilitation Counseling Assistant.

In this role, the successful candidate Provides vocational rehabilitation and related support services including, training and job placement supports to individuals with physical, neurological and psychiatric disabilities, under supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

Establishes a rapport with clients and explains the role of vocational rehabilitation services. Develops a supportive relationship, demonstrating sensitivity to changes in client status and modifies treatment approach accordingly. Takes initiative in identifying problems and developing intervention strategies.

Implements and coordinates clients work readiness training programs. Orients work site supervisors to the goals of the work readiness program and the responsibilities of hosting a program trainee or intern. Develops and maintains contacts with internal departments and external organizations for placement of program participants at appropriate training sites. Develop new training/internship sites to meet client needs.

Provides onsite support as needed. Uses professional judgment and creativity in

presenting innovative solutions and coaching strategies to resolve problems. Initiates appropriate referrals for support services and maintains timely contact with other treating clinicians and/or referring counselors regarding client's progress. Provides effective job placement and follow-up services.

Provide job seeking skills training in group and individual sessions. Prepares effective resumes and cover letters and teaches interview strategies. Assist clients in their job search. Provides postplacement follow-up with client and employer. Assist Job Placement counselors in planning and facilitating weekly Job Club groups.

Provide curriculum-based training in Soft Skills and Self-Advocacy, as well as lead groups and individual sessions focused on pre-employment transition services for young adults.

Develops and maintains an employer network. Initiates employer contacts and markets program and candidates. Develops and follows-up on job leads. Attend Placement Consortium meetings. Performs job market research and surveys new employers in growth industries. Recruits members for the Business Advisory Committee.

Documents all services and completes all program reports using clear, concise narrative following prescribed protocol and within established times. Ensure case notes reflect client status and progress toward goals. Enter all reports and progress notes in Epic. Documents safety occurrences on PSN.

Provide assistance to clients engaged in beginner level Microsoft Office training, when needed.

Demonstrates continued proficiency in skills required to manage assigned client population.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associate degree in human services, psychology or related field, with one years experience working with people with disabilities. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, strong communication skills, and ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and thrive in a teamwork environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in rehabilitation or related field preferred. Two years experience providing direct job placement services to individuals with disabilities.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $51,243.96 - $88,396.61 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
