Senior Manager Human Resources

The Senior HR Manager for the Ceramics Business Unit supports the Human Resources Department in implementing strategic initiatives aligned with business growth and operational excellence. This role serves as a business partner to manufacturing leadership while managing both unionized and non-unionized employee populations. The position requires expertise in labor relations, employee engagement, and manufacturing HR practices to support our advanced ceramics operations in Strongsville, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Act as business partner, strategic solution provider, advisor, and counselor for the Ceramics Business Unit leadership team.

  • Collaborate with Global HR team members to promote consistent HR practices throughout the organization.

  • Partner with Legal Department to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Manage employee relations in both union and non-union environments, with knowledge of labor and employment laws.

  • Handle collective bargaining support and grievance processes as needed.

  • Resolve sensitive employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and support disciplinary actions.

  • Collaborate with site leadership to forecast staffing needs.

  • Establish strategies and priorities to retain top talent within the Ceramics Business Unit.

  • Support identification of development opportunities for hourly and salaried personnel.

  • Work with management during recruitment and selection of new employees.

  • Ensure onboarding is completed effectively for all site new hires.

  • Assist with internal job bidding program and ensure related changes are made in HRIS system.

  • Maintain updates to site policy manuals as needed to address gaps or lack of clarity in processes.

  • Assist with policy development and handbook revisions.

  • Ensure adherence to immigration I-9 regulations and support federal EEO-1 filings.

  • Monitor compliance with export control regulations applicable to semiconductor and ceramics manufacturing.

  • Prepare employees for assignments, conducting orientation and training programs.

  • Present training materials to all levels of staff.

  • Support safety training initiatives specific to ceramics manufacturing environment.

  • Perform exit interviews and summarize information for final paycheck, collect company belongings.

  • Input select confidential employee data into HRIS WORKDAY system.

  • Monitor employee turnover.

Basic Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive HR experience.

  • Minimum 4-year degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.

  • Required experience in a manufacturing union environment.

  • Prior experience handling employee relations matters.

  • Experience in implementing strategic HR programs.

  • Minimum of three years' recruiting experience.

Preferrred Qualifications

  • SHRM-SCP or PHR certification.

  • Previous experience with Workday HRIS.

  • Experience in change management.

  • Knowledge of semiconductor/ceramics manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with export control compliance (ITAR, EAR).

  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations specific to manufacturing environments.
