| Position Purpose |
The
Assistant Director, Dartmouth NEXT provides essential programmatic and operational support for a university-wide initiative focused on expanding access and opportunity in
STEM fields. Reporting to the Executive Director, the
Assistant Director helps coordinate events and outreach, supports communications and reporting efforts, and ensures smooth execution of program logistics. With a strong
STEM foundation and a detail-oriented mindset, the
Assistant Director contributes to the implementation of Dartmouth
NEXT activities through effective planning, storytelling, and collaboration with campus and external partners. |

| Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities |
- Strong writing skills, with experience drafting professional communications such as newsletters or proposals.
- Experience coordinating events or supporting program operations.
- Basic data management and reporting skills (e.g., spreadsheets, data summaries, visual presentation).
- Familiarity with social media tools and an interest in inclusive storytelling and outreach.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field
- Demonstrated interest in STEM education, access, and equity.
- Experience working in higher education or nonprofit program coordination.
- Familiarity with grant or conference proposal processes.
- Skill in visual communications or design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Understanding of inclusive communication and outreach practices.

Key Accountabilities
| Description |
Program and Event Coordination -
- Leads the coordination and execution of Dartmouth NEXT events and activities, including speaker series, student recruitment events, and campus partnerships, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and a high-quality participant experience.
- Manages preparation of event materials, scheduling, and travel arrangements, and provides on-site and virtual leadership during event execution, addressing challenges in real time to deliver seamless experiences.
- Provides comprehensive logistical and administrative support to the Executive Director at recruitment fairs, conferences, and outreach events, including preparation of briefing materials, coordination of presentations, and facilitation of professional representation.
- Supports the development of grant applications and conference proposals by compiling and formatting materials, conducting background research, and coordinating submissions to meet deadlines and compliance requirements.
- Maintains accurate program documentation, schedules, and records to support planning and follow-through, tracking event outcomes, participant data, and feedback to inform continuous improvement of future initiatives.
