How you will make history here...

As Principal Engineer, you will be a recognized technical expert in process engineering, process equipment, and all related process ancillary/product handling technologies (pumps, piping, valves, etc.) for Engineering. You will be engineering and designing process systems to support capital project execution and new product launches. In addition, you will lead the development, vendor selection, and detailed design of process systems by overseeing 3rd party engineering firms. Providing technical support to capital projects for packaging equipment technologies may also be required for this role. You will provide technical solutions to supply chain losses and support the engineering, design, installation, and startup of capital projects or initiatives. You will also be accountable to deliver capital projects from conceptual design to project completion. Working with multi-functional teams, you will have the responsibility to design and execute complex engineering projects, often involving new or improved products, processes, or techniques, across the Campbells Meals & Beverages and Snacks plants.

This position will be based in the Camden, NJ World Headquarters.

What you will do...

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for all process engineering, process equipment and ancillary process systems and technologies, keeping current with new technologies.

  • Create and maintain technical standards and documentation for process engineering, process equipment and related ancillary process equipment.

  • Provide technical guidance to R&D and product development for evaluating new products and processes for integration into existing process systems. This includes scaling up from lab scale through pilot scale to manufacturing scale.

  • Development of conceptual and preliminary engineering documentation such as rough order of magnitude project estimates, estimates for preliminary engineering costs, layouts, and flow diagrams.

  • Evaluation of existing system configurations, capabilities, and limitations in relation to new processes, technologies, product changes, or changes in throughput needs. Design changes to existing systems to meet new demands.

  • Development of capital project authorizations, working closely with Business Units to define project justification.

  • Creation of functional, equipment and installation specifications and requests for proposals.

  • Investigating new technologies to automate and improve manufacturing system performance.

  • Providing technical leadership and execution management for capital projects from $1,000,000 to $25,000,000.

  • Providing presentations to leadership teams on project concepts, scope, and costs.

  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to understand, design and analyze ingredient and final product processing systems and equipment for thermal and bakery operations using data to drive decisions.

  • Ability to develop and read P&ID's.

  • Working knowledge of CIP systems, their design and control.

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and assignments.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information to professional and operation personnel at varying levels of the organization to accomplish assignments.

  • Ability to build rapport and trust with cross-functional partners, internal customers, and external vendors.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with plant floor personnel, peers, and leadership. Be able to routinely provide updates and presentations to local and corporate leadership.

  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams (internal and external) for execution of project work.

What you will bring to the table... (Must Have)

  • Bachelor Degree

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, with 3+ years based in a production plant.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Project.

  • 50% travel at times

It would be great if you have... (Nice to Have)

  • AutoCAD experience is preferred, 3D modeling a plus.

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred but not required.

  • A demonstrated mastery level practitioner in Process Engineering technology.

  • PE License

Compensation and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$137,600-$197,800

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
