Job Title: Engineering CAD Manager

Location: Project Management / Engineering Department

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering CAD Manager to oversee the administration and optimization of multiple CAD platforms across various locations within our engineering department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for license management, system performance monitoring, automation development, and providing support to manufacturing teams with their CAD systems. This role will support a multi-CAD environment-including both mechanical and electrical CAD software-at multiple sites, working closely with internal engineering teams, manufacturing, and external contractors to develop automation solutions that improve workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

License Management:

  • Oversee procurement, allocation, and renewal of CAD software licenses across multiple platforms and locations.
  • Monitor license usage to ensure compliance and optimize utilization.
  • Coordinate with software vendors for updates, support, and licensing issues.

System Performance Monitoring and Collaboration:

  • Monitor system performance and stability across all sites, alerting IT to potential issues proactively.
  • Collaborate with IT to identify and implement solutions before problems impact operations.
  • Assist in coordinating system upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, manufacturing, project teams, and IT for technical support and project requirements.

CAD Software Support:

  • Support both mechanical and electrical CAD software platforms used within the organization, ensuring effective operation and integration.
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide technical guidance to engineering and manufacturing teams.

Automation Development:

  • Lead automation initiatives by developing scripts and tools internally within the engineering department.
  • Collaborate with external contractors and vendors to develop, review, and implement automation solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation to improve efficiency and accuracy across CAD workflows.
  • Provide training and support to engineering staff on automation tools and best practices.

Manufacturing Support:

  • Assist manufacturing teams with their CAD systems, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize CAD workflows and ensure compatibility with engineering processes.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation related to CAD systems, licenses, system performance, automation processes, and manufacturing support activities across all locations.
  • Stay updated with the latest CAD technologies and industry best practices.
  • Lead or participate in projects related to CAD system upgrades, automation, infrastructure enhancements, and manufacturing support within a multi-site environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Proven experience managing multiple CAD platforms, including mechanical and electrical CAD software, across various locations.

  • Strong understanding of CAD management, license administration, automation scripting, and cross-departmental support.

  • Experience monitoring system performance and collaborating with IT to resolve issues proactively.

  • Experience working with both internal engineering and manufacturing teams, as well as external contractors on automation projects.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with specific CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, electrical CAD tools).

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, VBA, or similar.

  • Familiarity with enterprise license management tools.

  • Experience with multi-site system management and infrastructure coordination.
