Job Description:

Learning Enterprise (LE) is a rapidly growing enterprise within ASU working to re-imagine the role of universities to serve learners at every stage of life. Learning Enterprise is a data-driven organization, using data and observed evidence for key decision making and strategy. Analytics & Impact is a critical central team dedicated to delivering actionable insights, empowering all Learning Enterprise staff to make informed decisions that ensure every learner has access to opportunity.

 

We are looking for a creative, driven, and articulate data analyst to join us in advancing LE’s mission. Reporting to the Sr. Data Analyst, this role is ideal for someone who likes developing robust data tools and pipelines, maintaining the quality of and analyzing intricate data sets and generating actionable insights to improve program outcomes and learner achievements and measure LE’s impact.

Position Salary Range: $65,000-$73,000 per year; DOE

 

Essential Duties:

The focus areas for this role in the first 12-18 months include, but not limited to: 

 

Data Infrastructure:

  • Develop a strong understanding of LE’s data infrastructure and diverse sources and identify areas for improvement in quality and usability.
  • Collaborate with the Product team to ensure data repositories are accurate, accessible, and up-to-date.
  • With supervision, lead automation efforts in data engineering and analysis pipelines.
  • Define and enforce data validation, integrity, and security for Learning Enterprise as the organization scales and in compliance with university standards.
  • Collaborate with ASU teams on university-wide projects to advance data interoperability for learner-student-learner transitions.

 

Data Reporting & Analysis: 

  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reports for enrollment, course performance, financials, and other metrics.
  • Streamline and automate frequent reporting requests to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate across teams to support data-driven decision-making with reports, dashboards, and insights.

 

Research & Innovation: 

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for new data initiatives and establish quantifiable KPIs, as well as the necessary means to collect, report and analyze those KPIs.
  • Conduct feasibility analyses for proof-of-concept projects.
  • Develop and apply statistical models to predict outcomes and highlight intervention opportunities.

 

Process Optimization & Data Literacy: 

  • Optimize data processes across the enterprise and coordinate with ASU departments.
  • Conduct data literacy sessions, create documentation, and engage stakeholders in best practices and tools.
  • Represent A&I team at ASU by regularly showcasing at various university events

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expert in data analysis and visualization using tools like SQL, Python, R, and Alteryx.
  • Skilled in building data pipelines with tools such as Alteryx, Python, and R.
  • Proficient in developing data infrastructure with BigQuery, Redshift, and Google Analytics for KPI tracking.
  • Master in creating actionable dashboards with tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Looker
  • Adept at defining and measuring KPIs to assess both quantitative and qualitative performance.
  • Strong communicator capable of translating business needs into clear, actionable insights.
  • Lifelong learner who is interested in learning new concepts and skills as per organizational needs
  • Individual problem solver capable of working individually and in team environments
  • Consistently meet deadlines, demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills

 

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
