THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a System Hardware Architect to drive execution and delivery of client product requirements which include areas such as system feature definition, product requirement specifications, performance optimization, power management, and developing use cases.

THE PERSON:

Within the Client Business Unit, we seek a strategic thinker who understands how systems integrate and excels in collaborative environments. This role involves partnering across AMD teams and engaging with customers and industry leaders to deliver innovative, end-to-end solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary technical system hardware architect leading the program within the Client business unit
  • Responsible for product features and capabilities such as performance and power management from the pins looking into the silicon to ensure that the accepted marketing product requirements are met.
  • Comprehends the SOC as a complete system which includes HW (silicon), FW, BIOS & SW
  • Ensures that FW, BIOS & SW are aligned to enable features
  • Knowledgeable and contributes to the platform architecture and system features
  • Ensures that the required Use Cases are achieved
  • Responsible for any marketing change requests or any changes to the requirements to be negotiated between the BU and the design team to reach agreeable solutions
  • Responsible for technical accuracy of product disclosures
  • Responsible to quantify impact of bugs and feature / performance goals.
  • Is not expected to be the expert in all areas but is tightly linked to the other architects and technical leads for the program.
  • Drives the system features and solutions to be architected and delivered for the program
  • Help to define future desktop SOC designs to meet market needs
  • Work with major customers to enable implementation of AMD SOC designs in their desktop solutions

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior, recent, and relevant years of experience in the desktop and mobile PC industry
  • Knowledgeable on the architecture of the PC platform for x86 based platforms
  • Familiar with the interface industry standards specifications defined to improve power manageability
  • Understand silicon process technologies and the tools to project power & performance of the SOC
  • Requires a mixture of Silicon and System Board Experience
  • Experience with PC software and hardware
  • System architecture experience in desktop and/or mobile is a plus
  • Understanding of benchmarking and performance optimization

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in electrical or Computer Engineering
