Position Purpose The Senior Loan Documentation Specialist is primarily responsible for managing the closing process of commercial and consumer loans either through close coordination with outside counsel or by preparing internal Laserpro or Encompass loan documents and Word templates. Position Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end closing process for commercial loans, including construction, C&I, SBA, and USDA loans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for borrowers, lenders, attorneys, title companies, and other stakeholders throughout the closing process.
- Prepare, review, and validate all closing documentation for accuracy and compliance with loan terms, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure proper execution of loan agreements, security instruments, guarantees, and other required documents.
- Analyze loan approval packages for completeness, accuracy and conformance with bank polices and department procedures.
- Verify due diligence and required documents from third parties are received and accurate.
- Prepare new and renewal loan documents using LaserPro, Encompass, or bank templates for consumer Home Equity Lines of Credit, mortgages, and commercial loans, including commercial real estate, construction, SBA and USDA deals.
- Review attorney prepared loan documents for accuracy and policy conformance.
- Interact with loan officers, attorneys and bank personnel to coordinate loan document preparation, closing and funding.
- Provide clear and timely updates to internal teams and external parties regarding closing status and requirements.
- Respond to inquiries and resolve issues to prevent delays in closing.
- Conduct pre-closing review to ensure internally or externally prepared loan documents comply with approval and Bank policy and that pre-closing conditions are met.
- Conduct post-closing review of loan files to confirm compliance with closing conditions and completeness of package.
- Complete checklists and internal control documents to maintain data integrity and loan input quality.
- Comply with all federal and state rules and regulations that affect this job position and perform the required ongoing training for those regulations as directed by the Compliance Officer.
- Identify potential compliance risks and escalate issues promptly.
- Manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple requests to meet closing deadlines.
- Recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Mentor junior staff and assist with training on complex loan closing procedures.
- Participate in special projects and other job duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- 4+ years experience in a commercial loan documentation, closing, or servicing role.
- Strong exposure to CRE, construction, and C&I loans.
- Experience with consumer mortgage and HELOC loans.
- Knowledge of commercial lending and banking policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-party transactions.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Microsoft office software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, lien perfection, and title requirements.
- Expertise with the meaning and purpose of various commercial and consumer loan documents.
- Prefer working knowledge of LaserPro, Encompass, Fiserv Director and Navigator.
- Firm understanding of consumer real estate regulations such as Reg Z, TRID and Flood.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Other Ability to travel within a defined market area. Compensation
- Base Salary Range - $96,000 annually. Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as relevant experience, skill set, education, geographic location, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description.
Working Arrangements: This is a hybrid role expected to work in office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. This person can sit out of our Rockville headquarters. You will be able to work remotely on Wednesday. Why Join Us?
