Description

Under the guidance of the Food Service Manager (Director, Chef, etc.), the Senior Custodian is responsible for supporting patient meal services and upholding the cleanliness and organization of kitchen operations in accordance with established guidelines. This role involves ensuring that all areas identified within the Nutrition department are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, while strictly adhering to safety, sanitation, and food handling protocols. The Senior Custodian must aid in providing a safe, efficient, and sanitary food service environment, contributing to the overall quality of patient care and meal delivery across all service lines.

Qualifications
  • Able to read and write standard English.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to follow protocols and procedure around handling cleaning products, equipment, and technique.
  • Ability to work in a standing, kneeling, or squatting position for extended periods; bend, stretch, walk, stoop, and reach repetitively.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including hot, cold, and/or wet areas
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, push or pull carts or equipment weighing up to 350 pounds.
  • Ability to adhere to uniform or dress code standards.
  • Ability to work in a non-smoking environment.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Must maintain good personal hygiene and a clean, professional appearance.
  • Ability to adjust to fluctuating workload demands and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and other staff members in a respectful and cooperative manner.
