Food Destitution Tech

Full-time Days

The Hospital Food Service Unit plays a vital role in providing nutritious and well-balanced meals for patients, visitors, and staff. The unit is dedicated to ensuring that all meals are prepared in accordance with dietary guidelines, patient preferences, and specific medical needs. Key functions include meal planning, preparation, and delivery for various dietary requirements such as low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, and gluten-free options, all while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

The unit also manages the cafeteria and catering services for hospital events, offering a variety of menu options for staff and visitors. The team consists of skilled chefs, dietitians, and food service workers who work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure that the nutritional needs of patients are met to support their recovery and overall well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Operates and cleans assigned equipment per department procedures. *

  • Stores food and supplies in correct containers and in proper storage areas according to department guidelines as indicated by non-spoilage of food.

  • Demonstrates ability to order food and supplies based upon product specification as established by MHCI ordering protocols and procedures.

  • Operates and cleans assigned equipment per department procedures. Dates, labels, and rotates stock according to procedures as indicated by oldest product being utilized first.

  • Maintains records and logs documenting storage temperatures of perishable food items daily.

  • Utilizes equipment in performing job functions as per department safety procedures. Demonstrates ability to follow all security regarding the storeroom organization. Safely transports garbage to assigned areas.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency

  • Food Handlers card or Serv Safe certificate is required.

  • On-the-job training provided.
