About our group:

Our group develops advanced mechanical, tribological, and thermo-mechanical technologies at the micro- and nano-scale for future generations of hard disk drives. We invent, design, and develop engineering solutions for future data storage devices.

About the role - you will:

* Work with advanced development and product development teams in the areas of thermal and mechanical modeling using Finite Element Methods, machine learning, and simulation tools development.

* Develop experience in industry modeling methods to help a team of engineers develop novel design concepts for data storage devices.

* Summarize and communicate results to teams from a diverse set of engineering disciplines.

About you:

* Flexible - able to contribute to multi-disciplinary projects

* Ability to illustrate a combination of leadership and strong teamwork skills - initiate, execute, and collaborate on technology development projects

* Strong communicator - able to communicate across diverse engineering teams

Your experience includes:

* Proven academic background in engineering, physics, materials science, or data science

* Experience with numerical modeling using script-based simulation tools

* Demonstrated proficiency in numerical modeling

* Currently enrolled in a program for Master's Degree or Ph.D. (preferred) in engineering, physics, or materials science



The estimated base wage range for this position is $35 - $43/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan. Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave. The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.

Our Normandale campus spans two suburbs, Edina and Bloomington, and serves as the Recording Head development and manufacturing arm of Seagate.
