Anticipated Hiring Pay Range: $21.75 - $25.06 Hourly
Full Pay Range: $21.75 - $35.00 Hourly

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. A higher wage would only be offered based on direct court-related or legal experience (i.e. such as that with a law firm). Additional questions regarding pay can be discussed with HR during the hiring process if you are offered a position. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position

We're seeking a detail-driven, highly organized Court Operations Specialist Sr. to play a key role in supporting critical Grand Jury and Criminal Operations functions.

This position is responsible for all administrative and clerical duties related to creating, processing, and retaining records related to Grand Jury proceedings as well as providing access to the judicial system and related public records to the public, the legal community, Courts, County, and other governmental agencies so that they can pursue legal processes and/or obtain and maintain legal and financial records and information. This position is a cross-trained Grand Jury and Criminal Operations Specialist Senior.

We Require

  • Three years of progressively responsible legal, court, justice system, or administrative support-related experience

  • High school diploma or GED

  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Experience in a financial, accounting, or bookkeeping work environment

  • Experience processing legal documents

  • Experience preparing legal fees and fines

  • Experience receiving and processing legal payments received by mail or in person

  • Experience reconciling and balancing accounts in a legal, court, or justice system support environment

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

Job Contributions

  • Attend and create a record of all sessions of Grand Jury court proceedings when a Judicial officer is present

  • Process and maintain the confidentiality of all closed (pending) Grand Jury cases

  • Prepare administrative paperwork for the empanelment and orientation of the jurors

  • Oversee Grand Jurors and act as the liaison between Grand Jurors and the Criminal Presiding Judge

  • Enter confidential information of moderate complexity into an automated court system, in addition to routine auditing of documents

  • Respond to a high volume of inquiries from a variety of sources, complete extensive case and file research for customers, file documents per court order, and handle the processing of exhibits

  • Follow the state retention schedule for the destruction of Grand Jury records

  • Perform extensive cashiering functions at public file counters and perform extensive processing of public records

  • Review, file, and process new complaints, petitions, exhibits, post-decrees, and subsequent documents, set hearings, and generate minute entries

  • Perform Special Commissioner, Probate Registrar, and/or Notary functions as necessary

  • Cross-train to perform backup assistance in other areas or assignments and provide training to coworkers

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in a business office setting

  • Ability to lift boxes up to 30 pounds and carry, push, or pull a distance of 500 feet

  • Ability to travel to and from job-related locations during a scheduled workday subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles or private vehicles used on County business

  • Hybrid schedules are available after training based on business needs
