Job Summary

The College of Design at Georgia Tech invites applications for a Senior Academic Professional to support and advance the College's research, community engagement, and capacity-building initiatives. This position plays a critical role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, supporting faculty in securing external funding, and strengthening partnerships with community organizations through research and technical assistance.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to develop competitive grant proposals aligned with diverse research topics and funding opportunities.
  • Identify and disseminate relevant grant opportunities that align with faculty interests and institutional priorities.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and background research to inform proposal development and explore emerging research directions.
  • Provide expert writing support for grant proposals, drawing on broad disciplinary knowledge and best practices in research communication.
  • Offer training and consultation on community-engaged research methodologies, emphasizing ethical practices and sustainable partnerships.
  • Conduct data analysis to support community-based projects, program evaluations, and reporting requirements.
  • Facilitate and support the development of large-scale proposals by providing administrative assistance, e.g., for coordination with collaborators and partner institutions.
Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in area relevant to units represented in the College of Design (Architecture, Building Construction, City and Regional Planning, Industrial Design, Music)
  • Evidence of superior performance in the chosen field
  • Recognition by peers (whether national, regional, or local)
  • Successful and measurable related experience
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in scientific writing, literature reviews, and background research
  • Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills, with experience in grant writing and providing grant writing support
  • Experience working with community-based organizations and with supporting community-based projects in securing funding and building organizational capacity
  • Qualification to teach classes in the School of City and Regional Planning
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary research is a plus.
