Description

A to Z Wineworks, LLC is hiring a Sr. Staff Accountant to represent our Oregon brands of A to Z Wineworks, Erath, and REX HILL. This role will be responsible for accurate accounting and financial workflows for three brands, delivering insights and empowering decision support. Streamline accounting processes, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive efficiencies in financial systems while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Maintain precise transaction recording, analyze data, review and approve journal entries and reports, and strengthen internal controls. Lead the month-end close, oversee excise tax reporting, and manage operational projects with energy and initiative. Takes on additional duties and special projects with enthusiasm, becoming a reliable contributor in supporting the company's growth and success.

Essential Functions:

Accounting



  • Communicate and lead full-cycle accounting in accordance with GAAP and high degree of organization, teamwork, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Cross-functional accounting support for all departments, including sales, marketing, facilities, winemaking, vineyards.
  • Maintain transaction accuracy within the ERP system, including new vendor set up and purchasing workflow, new customer setup, sales orders, receivables, and revenue recognition, and the chart of accounts.
  • Maintain records for account reconciliations and journal entries as part of the month-end close process that support annual financial audit and financial exams
  • Support accounting functions related to cost accounting, tax, fixed assets (CAPEX), accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare documentation for third-party audits, lender field exams, and borrowing base certificates.
  • Collaborate with inventory and supply chain operations.


Financial Operations



  • Review cash and credit card activity for direct-to-consumer channels to ensure accuracy and transparency.
  • Conduct monthly sales and excise tax reconciliations and manage automated filings and payments.
  • Prepare invoices and monitor collections for contracted private events.
  • Report on monthly vault audits of onsite cash
  • Maintain the contract library system and support the harvest grape intake and payment cycle.


Compliance



  • Serve as the primary contact for compliance software, including management of ShipCompliant records.
  • Update databases with label registrations, distributor details, and license registrations.
  • Track and report sample and wholesale shipments to ensure regulatory compliance through ShipCompliant
  • Collaborate with the direct-to-consumer team to provide timely reporting and resolve variances.


Other duties and special projects as required, and at the discretion of the Company

Qualifications:



  • 4+years of experience in accounting and financial operations, CPA + 2 Years experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use professional discretion for accomplishing diverse and difficult assignments that require advanced competency.
  • Strong organization skills, self-starter, systems background, proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Experienced in accounting software such as JD Edwards, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Sage Intacct, SAP.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular on-site work at the winery location.
  • Must be able to lift, move, and carry up to 45 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Some work is performed in a manufacturing environment over varying terrain.


Your Compensation:

$74,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
