THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement's Pipeline Safety Division as a Fixed Utility Valuation Engineer I (FUVE I). This role is based in the Southeastern Pennsylvania region and offers a rewarding career path with opportunities for advancement.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Fixed Utility Valuation Engineer I serves within the engineering staff of the Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement, performing a range of pipeline safety engineering assignments. These tasks require the interpretation and application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and guidelines, along with sound engineering judgment to assess regulatory compliance.

Please be advised, this position requires residency within one of the following Southeastern Pennsylvania counties, or the selected candidate must relocate within six months of employment: Bucks, Delaware, Chester, Philadelphia, or Montgomery .

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • This position requires moderate travel (including overnight). A state vehicle and all personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fixed Utility Valuation Engineer Trainee; or
  • One year technological engineering or valuation engineering experience involving the operation of a public or private generation, collection and distribution system, or related experience with a public utility, public utility regulatory agency, or as a consulting engineer in related work; and a bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering Technology specifically related to-construction and design of generation, collection and distribution systems; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training. A master's degree in engineering will be acceptable in lieu of the one-year's technological experience.

Other Requirements:

  • You must reside in or be willing to relocate to Bucks, Delaware, Chester, Philadelphia, or Montgomery county within 6 months.
  • Enrollment and completion of designated PHMSA Training and Qualifications (T&Q) courses in Oklahoma City, OK will be required upon hire.
