The Test Engineer will provide mid-level test and evaluation support for DISA cyber sensing capabilities including the Open Sensor Platform, Full Packet Capture, Automated Security Validation, and Intrusion Detection System services. This includes planning, designing, and executing integration, regression, performance, interoperability, and verification and validation testing in support of sustainment, operations and maintenance, and modernization of sensing capabilities in both on premises and cloud environments. The Test Engineer will work closely with engineering, operations, and program management teams to ensure sensing capabilities are properly tested, documented, and fielded in accordance with DoD and DISA standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute functional, integration, regression, performance, interoperability, and validation and verification testing for sensing capabilities in lab, pre-production, and operational representative environments.
  • Support integration and testing of sensing capabilities on DoD unclassified and classified networks and in cloud hosting environments, including transition of capabilities such as IDS into cloud-based platforms.
  • Validate that sensing capabilities meet documented requirements, system designs, and Key Performance Parameters, and that interoperability across OSP, FPCAP, ASV, IDS, and external tools such as SIEM platforms is maintained.
  • Develop and maintain automated regression test suites where feasible to support routine verification of previously released functionality.
  • Collect, analyze, and report performance and availability metrics from test events to establish baselines and identify issues related to throughput, latency, stability, and scalability.
  • Document test results, defects, and anomalies; assign severity and recommended priority; and track issues through resolution in coordination with engineering and operations teams.
  • Participate in integration and interoperability testing to confirm interfaces, data flows, and sensor outputs align with system and data standards, including logging and data brokering requirements.
  • Support continuous monitoring activities by validating implementation of patches, updates, and configuration changes in test environments prior to deployment to production.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of lab environments used for sensing capability testing, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware, virtual machines, operating systems, and applications.
  • Prepare test related artifacts and briefing materials to support technical reviews, design reviews, and test readiness reviews as required by the program.
  • Coordinate with Government stakeholders and other contractor teams to ensure test activities align with program schedules, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide input to status reports, integration plans, and risk mitigation plans related to testing and validation activities.

DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience performing system or software testing, preferably in DoD, cyber, or complex networked environments.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans, test procedures, and test scripts for integration, regression, performance, and interoperability testing.
  • Experience testing networked systems or cyber sensing capabilities such as intrusion detection, packet capture, threat detection, or security validation tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments and virtualization technologies used for lab and test environments.
  • Experience with defect tracking tools and test management solutions.
  • Understanding of DoD or DISA policies, standards, and practices related to cybersecurity, configuration management, and system accreditation is desired.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed team in a fast paced, mission focused environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present test results and technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance if required by the contract.
