| Position Purpose |
Under general supervision from Collis Manager or other supervisors, performs a variety of food planning and preparation duties, specifically in relation to baked goods, in a busy, popular cafe. |

- Minimum three years of professional bakery experience in an institutional or commercial food service environment; or the equivalent.
- Must be able to pass Serv-Safe certification requirements.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- High school graduate or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of standard cooking methods, timing and temperature requirements.
- Skill in using commercial-scale bakery equipment; experience in preparing standard large-scale bakery products in a commercial or institutional food service environment. Knowledge of principal baking techniques.
- Organizational skills and understanding of food cost and portion control.
- Ability to basic mathematics for use in recipe/proportion adjustments. Experience in following and adjusting standardized recipes.
- Experience with organizing and maintaining bakery work stations, safe food handling, preventing food-borne illness, and sanitation techniques.
- Must be a self-starter able to work independently as part of a team in a confined space.
- Must be able to prioritize work and execute tasks with speed and efficiency.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to apply customer relations procedures and policies. Good attention to detail; neat appearance.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- May work varied shifts and overtime.

- Researches and creates or modifies recipes to ensure daily and weekly offerings are appetizing.

Baked goods preparation
- Independently and unassisted prepares and produces baked goods daily for cafe, following standardized recipes and specifications. Ensures baked goods and pastries are ready on time and to proper standards.
- Weighs and mixes ingredients for baked goods; bakes and decorates cookies, breads, cakes pastries, other desserts as required.
- Portions baked goods and wraps for delivery or presentation.
- Oversees product quality and presentation.
- Directs the activities of employees assigned to the bakery.
- Ensures that the Cafe is properly stocked with baked goods at all times.
- Provides excellent customer service at all times and handles customer interactions diplomatically and effectively.
