Position Summary

The Gas Meter & Analysis Specialist provides field support of CPS Energy's Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) system. Responsible in the maintenance, operation, installation, tracking, and testing of AMI Gas metering equipment; interfaces with other Business Units to manage the seamless operation of the AMI and Meter Data Management (MDM) Systems; and works with Customer Service, IT, and other groups to utilize the MDM System to provide customer usage information and to coordinate the required interfaces between systems. Additionally, this role performs data analysis and interpretation within the departmental advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) to support business decisions. And will support the Gas Measurement Manager and Supervisor as needed.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Design and validation of meter programs for gas meters using manufacturer meter software and AMI meter head in system (UIQ).
Supporting the installation, exchange, calibration, investigation, certification, and maintenance of all gas meters and instruments related to metering in the shop and field environments through various data systems.
Monitoring the Maintenance of all Gas meters and module types as they relate to all Gas infrastructure.
Monitor Gas through Pi and Talon networks to include troubleshooting EVC, download scheduling, and SIM cards.
Troubleshoot meter and service issues utilizing AMI data through various data systems.
Performs data analysis and interprets data within the departmental advanced metering infrastructure, utilizing UIQ/AMM. Interprets data signatures using device events, alarms, excessive usage, etc.
Monitor meter connectivity issues and escalate issues when needed.
Utilizes various communication hardware and software to communicate with infrastructure and devices.
Responsible for first-level network troubleshooting support to meet business requirements and works closely with departments to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Analyze non-communicating endpoints to determine if field investigations are necessary.
Creates and maintains documentation, change management principles, data integration, data trend analysis, management and integration of different data sources, data mining, and compliance material.
Coordinate to ensure notifications are created to inform the appropriate group of discovered issues and ensure the issue is corrected.
Assists leadership in creating purchase requisitions and verifies the receipt of materials upon delivery for goods issue and payment settlement to the vendor.
Initiates and coordinates the return of defective equipment to the original manufacturer for repair and calibration when needed.
Monitor, maintain, and revise gas meter and regulator specifications as needed to ensure our gas measurement standards are met.
Assists leadership in establishing multiple contracts that will be needed for the Gas Meter Shop and Tool Room work areas.
Assists the Billing area with misreads, High Bill complaints, and IDOC errors that hold up the billing process.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Intermediate experience in the analysis and management of gas meter operations, gas regulator operations, gas measurement or related area, and understands the basic processes for work order management, contract, and warehousing/storeroom functionality.
Valid Class C Texas Driver's License
Proficient in the SAP environment and capable of using various transactions related to storeroom type transactions, procurement, and various transactions that are heavily used daily and specific to the Gas Meter Shop.
Proficient in the use of UIQ.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, electronic mail, and scheduling.
Must have a valid Texas Driver's License with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPS Energy policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations.

Working Environment
Work is performed primarily indoors and some outdoors, operating a computer, requiring manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, and calculator.
Employees may potentially be exposed to hazardous chemicals, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, and a noisy and dusty environment.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. After-hours work may be required.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
