Engineering Manager - Energy Systems Manufacturing (Houston, TX)

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to lead our team in Houston, Texas. This role is crucial for managing the entire engineering lifecycle-from design and development to manufacturing support and commissioning of substations and power distribution systems across various voltage levels. The successful candidate will drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and ensure all products meet the highest standards of quality, and industry compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management



  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical and mechanical engineers and technicians in manufacturing engineering and test engineering
  • Manage resource allocation, project schedules, and engineering budgets to ensure on-time and within-scope delivery of all engineering projects.
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, design standards, and documentation control.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement within the engineering department.



Cross-Functional Collaboration and Support



  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact, collaborating with Sales, Marketing and other groups within the company.
  • Provide technical leadership and support for manufacturing to resolve production issues and improve processes.
  • Work with the Quality team on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for field failures and implement design corrections to enhance product reliability.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team to provide technical input for proposals, customer specifications, and project scope definition.



Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred; Master's degree preferred.
  • Over 15 years of direct, relevant experience in substation engineering and power distribution or other relevant area
  • Deep technical knowledge of high voltage electrical equipment and distribution systems.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards (IEEE, NEC, ANSI/NEMA, IEC) would be valuable
  • Demonstrated success in coaching, developing, and managing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • This is a full-time on-site function.

Salary Range (annual): $140,000 - $170,000 . Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
